I really enjoyed your session and wished that you were also at the Race and Star Wars session on Monday too. Star Wars totally racefails. One of the people in the session excused the lack of people of color in Star Wars because authors write what they know. So they know aliens but not people of color?
Afterwards, I talked with 2 people who referenced your workshop as the better way to address race in fiction.
LOL, i never got to both. But i always wonder scenes of movie.
May the force be with you too!
A chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members. So obvious, it’s Star Wars.

The problem is the meaning of the words "Force" and "magic". They just didn't use the word "magic" in Star Wars. In Harry Potter's world, they would never use "the Force" to speak about magic, although luke skywalker would probably say that Hermione had excellent skills in using "the Force" when she called her broom to her. And if Hermione saw Luke using the Force to bring him an object or influence someone's mind, she would say he was talented at "magic". In Star Wars, they just use the term "The Force" to speak about that mysterious quality in their world.
I know there are differences between magic in Harry Potter's books and The Force in Star Wars, but I am just using those as an example. In some of Robin McKinley's books, for instance, magic is a life force something like The Force in Star Wars. "Magic" can be different in different stories.
