To all Star Wars geeks: Why do all the villains in the movies have such dumb deaths?

The more you think about it it's really true. I hate Star Wars and this is one reason why: all the villains die dumb deaths.
Jabba the Hutt gets strangled by a chain, Jango's head gets cut off while he's fighting a losing fight, Dooku's head gets cut off after his hands are cut off, Grievous (best of all S.W. characters ever!) gets shot in the chest after fighting a better battle, Palpatine gets through into a metal pit(mind you he's still doing the lighnting thing while he's falling... why?), Darth Vader randomly turns good again, Boba Fett falls off a ship and just gets eaten, and Darth Maul gets cut in half after Obi Wan miraculously jumps out of another metal pit( he always does better when's he's hanign off of something).
WHY DO ALL THEIR DEATHS SUCK!!! EVEN IN THE clone Wars!!! STAR WARS SUCKS!!!! (save Vader, battle droids, GRIEVOUS, the Seperatists, and Chewie)

I would have to agree with you on this subject. I am a major Star Wars fan but the villains do die terribly. I would disagree with your statement that Grievous was one of the best characters ever. He was cool but not that cool. In my opinion, Darth Maul was the coolest character ever. He had the bad azz look and the awesome double lightsaber. He should have been the main villain not Darth Vader. Now don't get me wrong I love Vader but Maul just has that intimidating look to him.

Battle Droid Tribute

Why does the Israeli military not use battle droids to augment their fighting capabilities?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Droid

We are
In early 2003, the U.S. bought nine 62 ton D9 armored Caterpillar bulldozers into Kuwait for the Iraq campaign. The D9s, and their Israeli made armor kit, were purchased because of the Israeli success with the dozer in urban warfare against Palestinian terrorists. America had used the D9 during the 1960s in Vietnam, but after that only used the smaller (35 ton, with armor kit) D7. The D9 was not needed for urban fighting in Iraq during 2003, but was found very useful (much more so than the smaller D7) for combat engineering tasks. The D9 quickly cleared highways of debris and built temporary roads for combat vehicles. D9s was eventually used in Iraq for combat operations in places like Fallujah. The U.S. is aware of "Black Thunder", and is also experimenting with the remote control of a number of different armored vehicles.

    its? a spy!

  • since the movies were getting darker as they went, the droids became an easy source of comic relief. The show is geared towards children so they have to focus on comedy more than action a lot of the time.

Aha Brian1, my old nemesis! Here's why what you're saying (mostly) doesn't even classify as minor inconstancies, let alone plot holes of any size.
I'm not sure that any of those are plot holes, or even, but more your personal dislike of Nolan's interpretation of Batman and The Joker and a disingenuous disregard for Nolan's clever attempts to build a massive 3 part story; a true trilogy. There is no Batcave, you know this, we all do. It's being built uring the course of this movie and he's using temp accommodation, both as Bruce and as Batman. That's your problem, nit the movie's and is wholly consistent with the Batman Begins.

Much of your other arguments, as stated above, appear to be predicated on your unwillingness to suspend disbelief and similar hag ups. You’re doing the equivalent of saying these things..

“Raiders of The Lost Ark is *** because the submarine he swims to should just submerge and he should drown, there's no way for him to sneak inside something that small and hide so he stays outside and somehow the sub never submerges!”

“The whole rebel plan in Star Wars hinges on someone shooting into that hole. Well they could all miss it, what then?”

You've hit upon the fundamental irony of Chaos and Anarchy, in that in order to bring them about you have to organise; there’s no way around it and it is in many ways amusing, but you don't really have choice. Of course he's organised and has plan after plan with multiple backups, he's a genius.

How on Earth is having a third detonator, to ensure the plan works a plot hole?! He's not an idiot and has to know that whilst he is certain about human nature it only takes one variable, one person who, like him, doesn't follow the sheep and no KaBoom. He needs the explosion.

You assume that because the film follows dramatic effect and has the explosions that kill Rachel, go with the timer that it had to do that, that he couldn't have / didn't rig Rachel's trap to explode the second any was even 5 metres from her location. That he was unaware of what the fastest possible time is from the station to Rachel's trap. Did you really want all of those details spelled out for the audience like some Disney Channel TV movie or ST: Voyager?

You’ve suggested that you wilfully ignore the very simple premise that most of what he does is fun and doesn't need rationalisation. Why mess with the Mob? Why the hell not? Why climb the mountain? Because it’s there. He cripples them, just as the police are broken, Batman is to be Broken and organised crime also broken, leaving him king of the city, and then, he'll play golf, go ruin another city, who knows what?

You should also check out Batman Gotham Knight if you really must have all the details of what happened between BB and TDK. I'm at a loss as to why you think the mob would be hundreds of petty thugs and then the boss, Falcone; with nobody in between, no lieutenants following orders or paying a cut to Falcone, all the while waiting for a chance to step up. It's like saying, because we only saw the Prime minister of Britain and the American President in fictional movie pt.1 it's a plot hole to show the deputy PM and Vice President (or whoever) running the countries after the Prez and PM get killed at the start of Fictional movie Pt.2. It isn't a plot hole, just because hors of needless back-story isn't squeezed into a movie that would need to be 12 hours long.

Dent is shown as the great hope because we see straight away that he is incorruptible and not afraid to stand up to mob intimidation. We see this from his court case and when we hear him speak, which we assume (reading between the lines / watching between the frames?) he has done elsewhere. He has no dirt in his past has already made a name for himself etc so I'm not sure, again remembering TDK is already a pretty long film, how much time you wanted them to spend showing him getting kittens out of trees or kissing babies? Remember Gotham has been dark and corrupt for years; it doesn't take much to look like a shining light in that gloom. We’re not talking Episode 2 here, where we are twice TOLD that something is so to cover up ineptitude. I.e Samuel L Jackson mentioning to Yoda that the Jedi aren’t as strong with the force so as exscuse their rather pathetic showing against the battle droids. Or Obi Wan telling Anakin (the audience) that Christopher Lee’s character is wicked powerful so that when the rather naff lightsabre duels commence we don’t think; “hold on a minute, Obi Wan went toe-to-toe with Darth Maul, and now he’s got 10 years more experience behind him, where’s all that talent gone?” We are shown various reasons why Dent is so praised and you seem to have just missed them.

It’s also weird that you call out things like Batman having a cycle in the Batmobile thing a plot hole for more than one reason. You contradict yourself.
On the one hand you complain that the joker cannot possibly know the outcome of some of his schemes, therefore it’s B/S and his mad schemes could never work!
But on the other hand you complain that he can’t be about chaos BECAUSE of all the planning he does and BACK UP PLANS! ? Now by your own words you cancel out your own critique. We have no idea if the final actions that people took were Joker’s plan A, or if they were plan B or even plan Z! If Batman can’t make it to the showdown, switch to plan C; Dent has died in crash, Plan J. He has redundancies for everything he does, He’s a criminal genius and he plans ahead, meticulously, as you say. He’s playing chess not 21and you plan for dozens of moves even if you’re not that good at chess.

  • since the movies were getting darker as they went, the droids became an easy source of comic relief. The show is geared towards children so they have to focus on comedy more than action a lot of the time.
