palpatine darth How can Darth Vader be said to have brought "balance" to the force at the end of Episode VI?
I mean, he hardly did, did he? The Sith resurfaced barely years later with the Imperial Remnant! And then we even have another SITH EMPIRE about 200 years later!
The only way in which I think he ever brought about "balance" was when he killed all the Jedi in episode Iii; since that brought them down to numbers as low as the Sith... thus "evening the teams" as it were, but killing Palpatine solved nothing!
That's if you count the books after Return of the Jedi, I don't. In my eyes, he balanced it. Or...Luke was the chosen one and he balanced it.
Any one else agree that Darth Vader was NOT the most evil movie villian of all time, or even close? ?
If you have seen the movies then you would notice that Darth Vader being who he is isnt really his fault at all. Its all the Emperor's doing. On the list of top 10 most evil villians Darth Vader was #1 and the emperor was #6, with the votes being all by movie fans. Anakin Skywalker would have never become Vader if Councilor Palpatine didnt put dreams of Padme dying in his head, and saying the sith ways are the only ways of protecting her, and all that bullshit. Anakins whole life since he and palpatine first met was planned by palpatine to make him his apprentice. I say dont award Anakin skywalker most evil movie villian of all time, but he gets an award for having the most screwed up and saddest life ive ever seen, what with losing his mom like that then practically killing his beloved Padme all the while going to the dark side, ending with his son dragging him across the floor to safety in the last episode. Quite a life huh?
I totally agree! I think Palpatine is pure evil. A lot of lists put Hannibal Lecter at the top but seriously. If Palpatine and Hannibal Lecter ever met face to face... I mean come on people Lecter eats people but Palpatine dominated an entire galaxy and shot lightning from his hands!
I think that if the list says "best villain" or "most memorable" or whatever then you can put Lecter at the top or even Vader but as far as most evil how can you beat Palpatine?
A common narrative thread as well as an attempt to mirror 4-6. Emperor = Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidious (though I would keep even the *existence* of Darth Sidious a secret until late in Episode 2) Darth Vader = Darth Maul
This is really an oversimplification, but Ill try to summarize. Darth Maul was the apprentice to the Sith Lord (Emperor Palpatine, Darth Sidious). At first his task was to stop the Jedi from interfering with the trade alliance blockade. Then he followed the jedi and the princess and his next mission was to stop the Princess and the now known future Jedi that is to bring balance to the Force from reaching Coruscant. In Ep1 The Alliance (the alien japanese with the robots) was basically being manipulated by both Darth Sidious, and Count Dooku, to start a war against the core planets or the Republic. You can think of it similar to the UN. So basically The Trade Alliance and Separatists were waging war on outer rim planets. So what happens is that basically this UN type organization has no military, but Obi wan discovers someone has commissioned the creation of this clone army, and that this was actually in planning stages for a long time. At the same time, the war is getting worse, and the Republic decides to give Palpatine full emergency powers and allows him to use the Clone army and have full control of the army. Yes and Grievous was just a bad ass general and was leading the war efforts for the supposed bad guys.

Dark side is a bad bad place.
Palpatine & Darth Sidious 12? Figure Set –
Now I know why I’m not feeling Pope Benedict the XVI. He looks exactly like Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidious. HAHAHAHA. So evil.
Join the darkside, it seems more fun plus you learn how to shoot electricity out of your fingers (who doesn't wanna do that)..
i always thought the bad guy from day of the dead sounded like tetsuo from akira!
