my kotor game on pc is running oddly slow...?

i just got star wars the best of pc game- including kotor (knights of the old republic), republic commando, jedi outcast, battlefront, and empires at war. all of them but kotor run fine.

when i click to start kotor everything is fine up until those opening credits (u kno it says lucas art and stuff u can click through). then the screen goes black and the music plays and i get the game mouse. sometimes if i wait long enought i get the game screne. once i had enough patience to pick a character but everything was sooo slow. why is this happening and how do i fix it?? thanks in advance

Check if you have DirectX9.0 installed correctly. Also visit the LucasArts website and check that your computer meets all system requirements.

If it does, fill out the form at Yoda's Help Desk for Knights of the Old Republic. (Yoda's Help Desk at the LucasArts Website)

Greatness of Armenian Art

Ever since the wars that tore it apart years ago, Armenia has been a small country. Throughout history, many people have set their sights on conquering this rich territory and enslaving the exuberant population therein. That said, Armenia continues to be a land with a
unique history, a fairytale-like epos and a strikingly distinctive culture.

Stones and ceramics have been preserved in the incomparable specimens of Armenian paintings and sculptures. The walls of Etchmiadzin, the Ereruyk Basilica, the Tatar Monastery and of other temples carefully preserve exquisite ornaments, reliefs and bass-reliefs which, to this day, reflect the imagination of humankind. Armenian paintings are rich in ornaments that depict animals, plants, the history of Christianity and everyday life scenes.

The emotion and strength of the imagination of artists have transformed ordinary stone walls into story-telling works of art.

After a time, icons began to appear in Armenian creations. Miniatures that depict religious imagery in the illustrations of books stand out, even now, in terms of their vividness and picturesque imagery.

The creativity of the Armenian nation is not limited to religious subjects. Since the emergence of mounted paintings, pictures with a Soviet content began to be more common. In the 19 th century, Armenia gave the world the gift in the form of the great artist-marinist Ivan (Ovanes) Aivazovski. His maritime themes which depict the beautiful Caucasian landscapes and everyday life scenes (displayed in more than 6000 canvases) are filled with the radiance of the lavish sun and spill out from his brushes.

Another example of creativity can be seen in the famous Armenian rugs. The roots of this element of Armenian creativity predate Christianity. It is no secret that the rugs in Armenia have a special status which is near to esoteric. Even the ornaments depict symbols of God, glory, protection, sacrifice and success. The cross and crucifixion symbols show off multifaceted swastikas and stars with many points depicting delightful images of the World and of God.

God and the World are everlasting images that stand alongside humanity. These symbols have been used especially in the contemporary abstract creations of Armenian painters, such as Arship Gorki, Gagik Manukiyan, Minas Avetisiyan and others. Through lines and colours, abstractionists express their perspectives on the whole concept of creation. The complex world of humankind and creation manifests itself in the smooth juxtaposition of shades and tones in vivid colours; as if the rugs of the ancient masters (or contemporary abstract paintings) are saturated with sacred concepts.

Similarly, in the ancient frescoes and miniatures, contemporary paintings of Armenia have remained, over the centuries, as depictions of a fine artistic emotions and the unification with nature.

  • 1984 is not by Ray Bradbury….. It's by George Orwell.

  • We’re not talking about a galaxy far far away. There’s a whole defense in space. Russia, China, North Korea (which I doubt), if they were ever to go ballistic and launch something, that’d be our retaliation. Yes, for someone that probably got board of watching “Star Wars” played over and over again on Spike, there are “BOMBS” that are not just only underground, but in space in orbit ready to go when Def Con 5 goes on. There are no lasers or Millenium Falcons flying around piloted by Lando Calrissian. The Enterprise isn’t out there either…

A silent, static camera, for me, is as close to "fine art" as cinema gets. An artist behind the lens painting beauty IN scene.

  • The original trilogy was the start of it all. Over the years, as they made more movies, games, and novels, the story expanded and the ideas developed into greater aspects.
The original trilogy had only the philosophy of the Force. It wasn't as detailed as Lucas made it today.
The newer trilogy and the games can go onto details about harnessing the energy as a weapon or defense mechanism.
The drastic change can be seen as the newer trilogy being the real introduction of the Force, having more depth and details to it. The Jedi were many during this time. After Order 66, the Jedi dwindled, and they soon became legend, lore and myth.
And in the original trilogy of episodes 4-6, it can be seen that the Force has became nothing more than a mystical concept, since there were barely any Jedi to prove it. And since all Jedi have become a target everywhere they went, they kept hidden and secret. They let the grand imagery of the Force shrink to fables and magic mumbo jumbo.

  • Well, you've stumped me on one; but here goes for the rest.

    1. 33 years — the longest recorded strike in history.

    2. Jane was portrayed by the luscious, Maureen O'Sullivan.

    3. I believe that would be against Ralph Bakshi (who also gave us the first X-Rated cartoon, "Fritz the Cat).

    4. You got me here… The "Howard House" was built in 1850 and lasted till 1904, and then a new hotel called "The New Howard Hotel was built in 1906. So I'm just going to guess that it was Elevators.

    5. Wonderfully entitled "The Wicked Bible." Also referred to by the inimitable Ben Jonson as "The Adulterer's Bible"

    6. The preposterously named, Dr. Dionysus Lardener. (I've actually thought about this quote many times, particularly while "lead-footing" it on the Autobahn. It always brings a smile to my face).

    7. Captain John W. Trimmer.

    8. No, it's myth. In fact most birds have atrocious senses of smell. However, if you unduly disturb the nest, the returning mother may regard the nest site as unsafe and abandon it along with the eggs and hatchlings. This is undoubtedly how the myth got started.

    9. The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In fact, Hitler was twice rejected, in 1907 and again in 1908. I've always wondered how history might have been different if the Academy had accepted him.

    10. At the time, a "Macaroni" was someone obsessed with looking good. Later the term "Fop" or "Dandy" would take it's place. Yankee Doodle undoubtedly though himself quite "rakish" with his stylish feather. An 18th century "Up Yours" statement, no doubt.

Cheers. And please, let me know the answer to # 4. I'm curious… Thanks.

Also too, Jaws was never my scene and I don’t like Star Wars.

  • I agree with your last paragraph.
I also believe there is a fine art to good nursing.
I know a few nurses and sadly they go about their job in a dry, bored manner, not at all Fine Art.
My beloved sister, although not an RN, is one of the finest examples of living that Fine Art of Nursing. She's actually the one the other RNs go to for answers and advice.
