Will Star Wars 3D be a success, or will people see it as a transparent gimmick?

'The entire Star Wars film saga is to be converted into 3D, director George Lucas has announced.

A statement on the Star Wars website said: "The cutting edge conversion will take that immersion to the next thrilling level."

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace is expected to be released in 2012, with the remaining films to follow.'

As a monocular type, I get no use out of it, so a 3D release is pointless to me. But even then, I wonder if people will be swept up to see the same stories again. Shouldn't Lucas be getting on with his Star Wars TV series, that has been dangling in the air for long enough?

I hate 3D with a passion! If you want 3D acting, go to the theater! They've been doing it in 3D for years! Futhermore, George Lucas is an asshat. His heyday is 30 years that way. He tried to make a new Indiana Jones movie and look how that turned out! He's got nothing left, he should just retire to Malibu or maybe he can't afford it? Maybe he's spent every single dollar he ever made on Steven Spielberg memorabilia and do not get me started on that tool.

star wars: the gray jedi and their robes?

Hey I'm writting a fanfic about a gray jedi from way back in the old republic. I read some info about them on the wookiepedia where it mentioned how gray jedi often even wore their own robes "as if it were an official faction". I've done some searching but haven't really been able to find anything conclusive on what these robes look like so I was wondering if anyone here could give me some tips on where to look or if they happen to know of any images or can give me a descrption of what they look like it would be much appreciated. Also any links, books, or other things that might provide me with more detailed information on gray jedi and the history of the old republic in general(from knights of the old republic on). Thanks

You won't find much about them anywhere other than the "wiki" sites. The reason for this is that they are not a "canon" item in Star Wars. They are only mentioned on these sites and in some of the games but in reality ... they don't exist and never did. Of course we're talking SW here and reality doesn't come into the mix ... lol ... but, you couldn't have picked a better subject for a fanfic ... it's the kind of story that you really don't have a lot of restrictions on and that makes writing a lot easier.

Please don't think I'm being a jerk when I say this. There was a question about the "Gray Jedi" a few months back on YAnswers and I did a lot of searching at starwars.com and even with my hyperspace membership I couldn't find anything about them there. The wiki sites are about all you're going to find on them.

Real hovering Star Wars Jedi Lightsaber training remote

star wars.....?

we just finished watching star wars:return of the jedi. my question is- in the very last scene, luke sees images of Obiwon, Yoda and Annikan Skywalker when he was good. Did they add him to Return of the Jedi or was this in the original. It is a splitting image of Annikan Skywalker from the last Star Wars movie.

In the 1983 version of SWRotJ, it was Sebastian Shaw as the older Anakin Skywalker. When the DVD release box set came out, he, GL, decided he wanted to put in Hayden Christensen in Shaw's place for Anakin.

Personally I wouldn't have. I think that part should have been left alone. If there were changes made, why then wasn't the portrayl of Obi Wan by Alec Guiness replaced with the Ewan McGregor Obi Wan Kenobi?

(I know that wasn't part ofthe question, but just thought I'd throw that out there. lol)

Im doing a history project, its a time capsule.?

I have 6 catagories. I have to pick important significent events between 1975-1979

I use to have 1984-1989 but I asked to change it because I didnt like the year lol.
IM A Big star wars NERD!!!!

Episode 4, well the first one was made in 1977.

I put Star wars under the catorgory of art or something.

Anyway.
I think one of the reasons I should have it in my time capsule is because of the advance technology star wars had. The movie was ahead of its time. The ships, lightsabers, creatures, and other stuff were all ahead of its time. Which help make other movies have ideas to create a more technical movie.

My question is.
What has star wars done to cinima history. How and what kind of impact has Star wars had on the U.S?
What do you think?

Star Wars had a HUGE impact in movies. First of all, around that time there was a renewed interest in Star Trek ---- don't get mad...I LOVE BOTH STAR TREK AND STAR WARS ---- because people wanted sci-fi and NBC cut Star Trek after only 3 years back in 1968. So less than 10 yrs later, Lucas gives us STAR WARS which was phenomenal. It actually ran at the theatres for 60 or 70 WEEKS !!! Anyway it renewed interest in Space and Sc-fi paving the way for Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Star Trek 1), which led to 10 movies in all, ST:TNG, ST:DS9, ST:VOY and Enterprise, Babylon 5, Stargate, etc etc, not to mention SIX STAR WARS movies and animated series.

IT WAS HUGE and at the right time too.

Painting famous characters and comic inspired paintings.?

I posted this question in arts but thought it would be more suitable to post it here.

There is a carnival coming up near my town and I was asked to do sketches of anime characters such as one piece, sailor moon, etc.
Is that not copyright material?
I was wondering because I have been to sci fi conventions and anime conventions and see people sell star trek and Star Wars Paintings and drawings of these characters. Do you have to get a permit or something?
I am reluctant to accept such job.

How about painting the characters from an inspiration of an episode ir a movie?

You are free to paint whomever you want (even for profit), so long as you are only selling a one-of-a-kind original.
You can NOT, however, make copies of your drawing and sell them.

Basically, copyright law prohibits the reproduction and subsequent sale of said reproductions of a particular image or likeness.
Replicating an image, or a likeness, as an original piece of art is protected by the first amendment, and is totally legal to sell.
