In the Star Wars Expanded Universe, do Star Wars Imperial Stormtroopers operate vehicles such as the AT-ST? (Chicken Walker in the Return of the Jedi) In that movie, Scout troopers used Speeder bikes, but that it is. The AT-ATs and AT-STs in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi respectively, were manned by soldiers of the "Imperial Army," never actually mentioned in those movies, BUT in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, of which I have to admit am not very familiar, but curious on this point. Just curious on Stormtrooper transportation.

The other 3 answers are horridly wrong. Stormtroopers are the base level ... like the "grunts" in our armed services ... similar to PFC1 etc. Stormtroopers that show aptitude with other skills were trained for other duties. I think the problem with seeing this is in the "names" of some of them. Stormtrooper, Scout trooper ... they are all basically the same but in different fields. Watch the space battle scenes in ep IV and VI ... who do you see flying TIE Fighters ... Stormtroopers wearing dark colored armor.

In short Stormtroopers were given basic training in all things military ... where they ended up depended on what their individual talents were. One more thing ... Clone Troopers are NOT the same as Stormtroopers.

May The Force Be With You ...

@"Crimson667" - your statement: "Expanded Universe is simply the realm of books, video games, and comics that go beyond the 6 films or the clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. The source material is still originally the 6 films" ... is wrong on so many levels that I don't know where to start. First, the video games have little to nothing, mostly NOTHING, to do with the canon story of Star Wars. Only TFU has any canon elements to it and those are only what are in the two books of the same title ... events that happen in the play of ANY of the games are absolutely NON CANON ... in truth that should be clear to anyone who gives it more than a couple seconds of thought. The BASE level of canon is actually George Lucas ... not the 6 movies although since he created them it's a "close" thing. The same can be said about the books, comics and animated series and movies. While Lucas doesn't write the books or comics not one single story gets printed without his permission ... Lucas MUST ok any EU item or it doesn't get done ... simple as that. The animated series and movie were WRITTEN by George Lucas ... all of them ... so they add to the 6 movies also. In short YES, the final say is that of George but he says a lot on everything so it's wise to know what your talking about before spewing nonsense.

Are Imperial Stormtroopers and Clone troopers the same thing? Are Stormtroopers people or robots? If they are people are they different people or are they all clones? Are they like Clone troopers all clones of Jango Fett?

They are not the same thing. One of the little known facts about the Clones made from the Jango Fett Templet was that they had a much shorten life span. Changes made to their DNA gave them about a 20 year life span. Under Palpatine the Empire did try other cloning methods for their Stormtroopers but none of them ever worked out very well and produced a whole bunch of mentally unstable clones that caused a lot of damage in the early years of the Empire so the Clone program was stopped.

By the time of ep IV about 98% of all Stormtroopers were either volunteers or conscripts from Imperial held planets. They were all human also due to Palpatine's hatred of "aliens".
