Star Wars Movie Posters

Anyone know a sci-fi book similar to Star Wars?

I'm looking for this book but I can't remember the title.
I remember it was similar to Star Wars and involved galaxies, wars, ships...
It was made into a movie and the main lady looked like Princess Leia....(maybe on the movie poster...)
I know there are plenty of books like that...but I want to read this one
probably published 1980-1990 or later
I don't think there were any robots
There was something about knowing when a special child is born
Might have had king and queen

Hmm i'm not entirely sure what this book could be but I will venture a guess and suggest that it might be Dune by: Frank Herbert. Albeit Dune was written well before the 80s as it was published in 1965 and won the Hugo Award the following year.

I would suggest that you check into this book and see if it is what you were thinking of. If it wasn't then I suggest you read it any way as it is one of the greatest Sci-fi epics of all time. As a Star Wars fan and a Lord of the Rings fan Dune was like a dream come true. It was truly almost the feeling of the franchises meeting and molding into one entity. I hope this is what you were looking for, and if not, like I said check it out anyway.

How much is a Star Wars poster with Leonardo Dicaprio as Anakin worth? just wondering.?

I found an official looking promo mounted poster with other glossy photos from the movie. The funny thing is that it is actually Leonardo Dicaprio pictured as Anakin. I know he turned the role down but I was wondering if any promo pictures were made. If so, how many and what might it be worth. Wont be selling but will need to insure.

If it is real, and not just a bootleg, then I would guess it would be worth quite a lot. I don't see how it could be a "misprint," as its not like they accidently substituted Leonardo Dicaprio's face for Anakins; it would make sense that they might have actually made a few movie posters. Or, it could just be someone trying to make money, but even this could amount to something. Some people have actually started collecting the bootlegs. Either way, it's a win-win situation.

You could also look to the "Revenge of the Jedi" posters. Originally, "Return of the Jedi" was supposed to be "Revenge of the Jedi," and there were a few posters printed. Then Lucas decided that it wouldn't be characteristic of a Jedi to want revenge, so he changed it to the title we know today. These rare "Revenge" posters go for about $1,000, although now people have started reprinting them. I put two examples from ebay below.

If you seriously want to get it insured, I would probably go to an appraiser. Although this way, you get all of these Star Wars fans drooling over your treasure. Lucky you!

What is it called when tiny pictures make up a big picture when you look furthur back?

I've got a poster of Yoda made up of tiny pictures from the star wars movies. When you look back the images look like pixels in the bigger picture (Yoda). How is this done? What is it called? Is there any software that can do this?

It's called a photo-mosaic, and it's always software that does it. I have some software that does it and I've done some myself, but I can't recall what it's called... I do remember, however, that it was free.

It sounds like you want us to do all the work for you. Calm down, please don't insult us all on here, and do this:
-Read the book
-Look on Google for a movie poster (if there is one)
-Put the main character in the middle and start your character web
-take down notes on each character to get ready to analyze, then analyze
-pick a country from the book and look it up on wikipedia and other good sources of info
-look up the haulocaust in books and web (really easy to find info on it)
-look up world war 2 (book explains a bunch of it)
-Look up concentration
- the nazis should be in with the world war two stuff

If its a project, then space the things out, but read the book right away (it will help enormously). Then finish one thing a day. Just calm down and try to find it all yourself. If you need help with one character or a specific topic (not an entire one- just a snippet) then come back here and ask. Good luck!

Movie T-shirts have gotten to be more popular today than they have ever been before. It is almost impossible to walk through the mall or department store on a weekend without seeing at least a few Will Ferrel or Ben Stiller quotes displayed proudly across the chests of young people. Logos - Logo Tees are the classic shirts you probably think of when combining Hollywood and fashion. They are like wearing a promotional poster on your chest. These tees are very simple in design. Picture the words "Star Wars" on a t-shirt, and that is it.

If you like to stay current on fashion trends, then you should probably stock your closet with a wide array of colors, types, and varieties of movie t-shirts. Similarly, If you consider yourself a film buff, then you would be remiss to not own at least a few shirts inspired by your favorite films. Is it wrong for an adult to like childish things?

I"m a 32 year old single gay male and most of the things I like have to do with fantasy or childish things. I like superheroes and collect comic books. My place is decorated with superhero and star wars posters and I collect mosttluy scifi/fantasy movies and books. I also decorate with wacky types of lights and fun things. I like video games and stuff too. I'm not too into 'adult' things like business, etc. I have two I bachelors degrees and I have a full and part time job. I am currently living witin my means (though I alays wasn't in my past). Is it wrong to be like this. Some people tell me that by my age I should be into only business religion and politics. ( i do follow politics somewhat) and that I need to stop collecting what I like.

I'm assuming you came from a very abrupt childhood. You never had a chance to be a child. Something took your innocence away along with your chance to be able to enjoy childhood memories of a typical child.

Collectors Go Wild For The Vintage Poster

Movie posters have been around since the time when films were first made however at that time nobody had any idea that the posters that were advertising the films would be worth a lot of money. The original plan was to sell projectors and film prints as a home movie entertainment system. The general public did not know what film was arriving at the local theatre and this was a way of doing it.

The vintage posters that first used the concept of poster advertisements for films turned out to be wildly successful and set the stage for the way business would be conducted for the next 100 years. These such posters are now worth lots of money.

The Classic Vintage Poster For The Classic Vintage Film

If there were any vintage posters from films released during the last thirty years that were considered rare, they would have been snapped up by collectors a long time ago. A vintage poster is not any poster advertising a film but the actual poster used at the cinemas. These vintage posters that are sent to the cinemas by the film companies are the ones that are worth the money and sort after by the collectors and are considered a prized possession.

Of the classic film vintage posters, among the most prized vintage posters that collectors desire include King Kong, Frankenstein, Casablanca, and Gone with the Wind. These films' posters are in high demand because these vintage posters are the posters of four of the most famous, most successful and most influential films of all time. Classic vintage poster of the last few years include such films as Star Wars, Batman, Spiderman and ET.

All of these films have vintage posters that collectors prize with a passion. When offered up for auction, they can fetch prices that are quite high drawing several thousands of dollars in bids. When purchased they are usually properly stored away or, at minimum, placed in an expensive and durable frame.

While most of us can not afford these vintage posters in their original form, they all look kind of cool in reproductions. Avid film fans will probably keep the reproductions of these films in circulation for years and collectors of vintage posters will also keep the auction prices very high. If you get the chance in years to come, go to your local cinema and ask them if you can have or buy the posters as one day, you never know the poster you have been given, may just become a vintage poster in years to come.

"Revenge of the Jedi" Poster?

We have a poster from 1982,for the rerelease of Star Wars.
It says "Revenge of the Jedi" on the bottom not "Return". It
was meant to be displayed outside of a movie theater. It has
never seen sunlight,it is in perfect condition. What would
something like this be worth?
"For insurance purposes" is the phrase the comes to mind.

Well considering the 'Return of the Jedi' posters range from $1500.00 to $2000.00 a fault poster that's mint could be worth maybe 3-4 times as much...maybe more. It all depends on who wants it and how you play it.

I have a framed Star Wars print, numbered 671 in 1993. I don't know how many were made or signed. It is signed by both Hildebrandt brothers, the original designers of the New Hope movie poster. One of the Hildebrandt brothers died a couple of years ago. It's a full size framed print. What do you think this might be worth?

Star Wars "A New Hope": Did Lucas originally intend for Luke and Leia to be together instead of Han and Leia?

There is evidence to support that he did, but much of it is based on speculation. The original release poster showed Leia at Lukes knee. Luke and Leia kissed in "A New Hope," but it was "for luck." The music in the prison cell rescue scene takes on a romantic tone, but it is also not much different than the leitmotif used for Leia throughout the movie. After the destruction of the Deathstar, Leia rushes to hug Luke and only teases Han about his morals and her surprise that he showed up. Was it supposed to have been the "Young Hero Get's the Girl" or the "Lone-wolf Bachelor Get's the Princess?"

This question is not about "The Empire Strikes Back." Clearly by Episode 5, Lucas had decided to go with Han and Leia together.
Several excellent points are made arguing both sides. Thank you all.

If anyone is a TRUE fan of the Star Wars Legacy,they would know the making of Star Wars,from the Biography of George Lucas on TV.Star Wars was originally a 9 Episode storyline,he shopped it around Hollywood in the early 1970's.No one would buy it because it was too long,til he met with people at 20th Century Fox and they said,they loved the idea...but he would have to choose which part to make,he made a deal for a trilogy,so he picked Episode 4 (A New Hope) to start off with,he knew Luke and Leia were brother and sister;but he couldn't SAY they were in the first movie.He wanted people to wonder ala soap opera storylines.

Saying it With Vintage Posters

Star Wars Poster gift Question....??

Ok. My boyfriend is a huge collector of everything Star Wars. He has 2 movie posters (star wars & empire) but doesn't have Return of the Jedi yet. I found one that's already set on a plaque, but isn't the same size as the ones he already has. His are poster size at 27x41, but the one I'm looking at getting him is only 16x20.
Do you think I should go ahead and get it for him as a gift (valentines maybe) or just hold off to find one that matches the same sizes as he has?
I know he LOVES anything Star Wars, so I know he'll like it, and it's really not that much money, but I just know that it doesn't quite "match" the other ones because of the size..
Help!!
on another note.. at the low price of each plaque.. wonder if I should just go ahead and get all three so they match. I don't think he'd care that he had doubles.. ya think?

if the other 2 are displayed then no. it hurts to say this, because i am one of the 3 or 4 biggest star wars collectors in the world. he would appreciate it, but would still need to get the one that matches and then when he does, it would be awkward to take the other one down and put that one up. they are not hard to find especially on ebay. (NOT BRAINS TOYS)
